Determination

Now that things are starting to settle in to uni, I've decided to see if I can get coding again. Really. However, I'm so out of scratch, that the book that I ended up getting from the library earlier was one of the most basic I could find (to my dismay, there were a lack of visual quickstart guides and O'Reilly primers). The book I ended up grabbing was an ageing and somewhat thin "Programming in C++" volume. The deciding factor is that I think it's exactly the same series as the book of my father's from which I originally learnt C. I grabbed a book on C# too, but considering that this I have no .net, I'm not entirely sure why...

Oh, I set up a Warwick blog, but because I don't really want to separate anything that I post here, I don't particularly know what I'll use it for. It's a superb piece of software though, and the domain gives it a much better Google pagerank than I might get here.

I'm distinctly lacking on photos to continue to post, so here's me at some stage last night. On the subject of photos, this site is recently getting a lot more hits; something I've discovered is Google image search's responsibility. Screencaps I posted from Okami in February are now quite prominent in Google's image searches for that game...

University

Yay, so I've finally moved into University!
Some University Buildings
It's really nice here, though my room isn't the most tidy place in the world at the moment; and the workload that has already started to mount up after... err... one and a half days of lectures is really quite worrying. It's more an aspect of my course than anything (some others have just had the one introductory lecture so far), but with about 20 hours of contact time per week (Becca doing SPS has about... 5), I think things are going to start to get quite heavy (I receive enough examples to fill at least the same amount of time again working under my own steam). This morning all maths students were thrown straight into a maths exam, which is worth 20% of our first module: and exam that I know I'm going to have to resit at least part of (but fear not! we get to keep resitting until week 7 with no harm to credit). The corridor I'm on is great (as are the people on it :P), though so far my alcohol consumption has been a lot closer to 0 than 2 points. Which is a tad worrying; something is definitely going wrong somewhere.
The campus is pretty huge, and it can be a bit of a chore walking places: despite Rootes' proximity to the union (a place of beauty), it is nearly the opposite side of the campus from both the maths and the physics departments. Can't complain though: at least I'm not in Lakeside or Westwood.
Worst thing so far has been buying books, which are expensive, and being depressed because I seem to have inadvertently changed the combination code on my laptop lock whilst trying to work out how to change it, and I don't have a clue what it changed to. I'll pay £5 to anyone who can get it open for me... please :)?
My packing to come here freaked me out ever so slightly too, my priorities must be slightly skewed when my packing goes "two pairs of trousers, darwinia, defcon, uplink, shirts...".
